Thanks to her newfound strength, daily tasks are easier, and she feels empowered to keep pushing herself, no matter her age. Heather encourages anyone curious to step out of their comfort zone and try REVFIT—it’s a decision they won’t regret!

Hi, my name is Heather, and I've been a member here at REVFIT for about 3 years now. I am a mental health therapist in private practice, and have been in mental health support for over 20 years.

What were your thoughts about REVFIT before your first session?

I think just like anything new, there's always like a little bit of anxiety … “will it actually be like they say,” or “how will I fit in there” or “will everybody else be much more fit than I am.” So there was just a little bit of natural anxiety with it, I think.

What was your first REVFIT workout session like?

I just liked everybody's energy. That was sort of a shift from my previous gym. It was sort of a “good old boys club” where I was before. At REVFIT I really liked the entertainment factor that you guys provide and that really connected with me. It goes quickly! Surprisingly! It's so structured that you don't really have time to think. If you just listen and do what's being asked of you, you're gonna make it through, and you're gonna be so proud of yourself at the end.

What are the REVFIT trainers like?

Hilarious.

I love it, they're very real. I would say…I love a good F word, like it's therapeutic. I say that in a joking way, but really it's a very real.

Like…they know it's hard. They know it sucks. They know this is not necessarily where you want it to be…but they also praise you for you showing up. Let's freaking do this thing because you're here and why waste your time?

What is the REVFIT member community like?

I feel like it's such a huge variety. It's all body types. It's the definition of diversity. I'm 51 and so I'm very keenly aware that there are people in the room that could be my children.

Right? And so, sort of my goal is to be like, “oh I can out lift you…just watch.” And age never has to be a thing but listening to your body is important. Like there are things that I can't do the same way that a 20 year old at TCU can do, and I appreciate that, but it doesn't mean I don't push myself. It doesn't mean I don't think I can do it. I just try and if I can’t, I do something different.

What kind of results have you seen from working out at REVFIT?

So I've lost about 40 pounds.

Aesthetically, I just feel better in my own skin, which is not something I could even say before. I think I had not been comfortable in my own skin in about 20 years. Just saying I'm comfortable in my own skin, really being OK with being thicker and stronger and taking up space and that that's OK. Skinny is different to me now. Skinny is strong and lean and healthy. It's not about your waistband size. It's not about your pant size. It's about literally how you feel when you look in the mirror.

There's been a drastic change in that since I've been here.

How does your body feel now since coming to REVFIT?

I feel just overall my strength is better. My body feels better, so sitting for long periods of time, which I do at my job, like my glutes are stronger and my upper back is stronger, therefore, it's supporting where my lower back would hurt every single day because I sit 50 minutes at a time with clients.

Overall I’m functioning so much better, endurance wise and just being able to keep up and just being able to lift heavy boxes and climb up and down a ladder and hang pictures on the wall. Just functionality overall. And I think as you age, and I believe age is just a number, but as we age, our bodies also age and we have to take into account what is it gonna take for me to stay where I wanna be, and strength training is definitely it.

What would you say to someone who is thinking about trying REVFIT for the first time?

So we're always looking for something new to try. We're always looking to step out of our comfort zone and if you come to REVFIT, that's exactly what you will get. So come on, just try it. Can't hurt anything. Just one time, I promise you'll be hooked and you won't regret it.
